JHME Jazz Workshop

We are pleased to present the Jackson Hole Jazz Workshop, a new program organized by and featuring Keith Phillips, and oriented to the musician who wants to improve their playing in the traditional jazz piano trio format (piano, bass, drums). This program is intended for mature students and professionals as it focuses on techniques and processes at play in the piano trio, yet is applicable to musicians playing many instruments in small ensembles.

The workshop is presented in a true master class format. The Trio; Keith on Piano, Bill Plummer on Bass, Ed Domer on Drums, concentrates on discussing topics and techniques used in playing improvisational music in a trio setting. The trio performs, then critiques and analyzes its performance, and leads discussion relating to the concepts employed. Selected students also play with the trio members and their performance is critiqued and mentored.

The workshop has expanded to a whole day format and will again be held in the Music Center of the Center for the Arts. Date and times to be determined soon. Interested potential students please contact JHME.
